For 50 years we were first known as National Micro Midget Association then the name changed to National Modified Midget Association. The NMMA became the foundation of the sport for rules and participants. The old procedures and rules became a problem with many of the Micro racers and track owners so our membership declined rapidly in the past few years. This has changed. 600 Micro Sprint's objective is to be racer friendly with classes and rules that do not exclude engines, tires, wings and innovation. As an organization our objective is to give an organization or track, either privately promoted or club oriented a common set of rules that will be uniform across the country. We encourage tracks to affiliate and use our rules. The cost of affiliation is low and the tech is simple…bore and stroke to determine engine displacement. Driver affiliation will let the driver gain points at any affiliated track toward a National Championship and we are working on different levels of driver insurance to be included at a reasonable cost. We want you to race and have fun, not sit in tech all night and go home with your engine in a basket or get DQ'd for a ¼ inch over wing infraction. The National classes are: Wing; Non Wing; Restrictor and Kid Sprint (Jr Sprint). If a track or club wants to run a class (stock or singles for instance) that is popular in their area..Great!! We want them to as it helps them and promotes the sport. We also want to work with other organizations to bring common rules nationwide so a driver can go to other track or races without having to change his engine, buy new tires or get a different wing just to race one time.
The Governing Board and myself want to hear constructive ideas for the future from organizations, tracks, owners and drivers to help get micro sprint racing back together on the same page. It will need a lot of give and take on all our parts together, without thought of personal gain, but rather what is best for all, it can be accomplished.
